ועבד ליה בתין בקרתא דדוד ואתקין אתרא לארונא דיי ופרס ליה משכנא:
mshkna lyh wprs dyy larwna athra wathqyn ddwd bqrtha bthyn lyh webd
David made himself houses in David’s city; and he prepared a place for God’s ark, and pitched a tent for it.

הא בכין אמר דוד דלא כשרין למיטל ית ארונא דיי אלהן ליואי ארום בהון אתרעי יי למיטל ית ארונא דיי ולשמשא יתיה עד עלמא:
elma ed ythyh wlshmsha dyy arwna yth lmyTl yy athrey bhwn arwm lyway alhn dyy arwna yth lmyTl kshryn dla dwd amr bkyn ha
Then David said, “No one ought to carry God’s ark but the Levites. For Yahweh has chosen them to carry God’s ark, and to minister to him forever.”

וכנש דוד ית כל ישראל לירושלם לאסקא ית ארונא דיי לאתריה דזמין ליה:
lyh dzmyn lathryh dyy arwna yth lasqa lyrwshlm yshral kl yth dwd wknsh
David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem, to bring up Yahweh’s ark to its place, which he had prepared for it.

וכנש דוד ית בני אהרן וית ליואי:
lyway wyth ahrn bny yth dwd wknsh
David gathered together the sons of Aaron and the Levites:
5
לבני קהת אוריאל רבנא ואחוהי מאה ועשרין:
weshryn mah wakhwhy rbna awryal qhth lbny
of the sons of Kohath, Uriel the chief, and his brothers one hundred twenty;
6
לבני מררי עשיה רבנא ואחוהי מאתן ועשרין:
weshryn mathn wakhwhy rbna eshyh mrry lbny
of the sons of Merari, Asaiah the chief, and his brothers two hundred twenty;
7
לבני גרשום יואל רבנא ואחוהי מאה ותלתין:
wthlthyn mah wakhwhy rbna ywal grshwm lbny
of the sons of Gershom, Joel the chief, and his brothers one hundred thirty;
8
לבני אליצפן שמעיה רבנא ואחוהי מאתן:
mathn wakhwhy rbna shmeyh alytspn lbny
of the sons of Elizaphan, Shemaiah the chief, and his brothers two hundred;
9
לבני חברון אליאל רבנא ואחוהי תמנן:
thmnn wakhwhy rbna alyal khbrwn lbny
of the sons of Hebron, Eliel the chief, and his brothers eighty;
10
לבני עזיאל עמינדב רבנא ואחוהי מאה ותריסר:
wthrysr mah wakhwhy rbna emyndb ezyal lbny
of the sons of Uzziel, Amminadab the chief, and his brothers one hundred twelve.

וקרא דוד לצדוק ולאביתר כהניא ולליואי לאוריאל עשיה ויואל ושמעיה ואליאל ועמינדב:
wemyndb walyal wshmeyh wywal eshyh lawryal wllyway khnya wlabythr ltsdwq dwd wqra
David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites: for Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab,

ואמר להון אתון רישי אבהת לליואי אזדמנו אתון ואחוכון ותסקון ית ארונא דיי אלהא דישראל לאתרא דזמנית ליה:
lyh dzmnyth lathra dyshral alha dyy arwna yth wthsqwn wakhwkwn athwn azdmnw llyway abhth ryshy athwn lhwn wamr
and said to them, “You are the heads of the fathers’ households of the Levites. Sanctify yourselves, both you and your brothers, that you may bring the ark of Yahweh, the God of Israel, up to the place that I have prepared for it.

ארום בקדמיתא עד לא הויתון אתון תרע יי אלהנא בנא ארום לא תבענוהי כזחזי:
kzkhzy thbenwhy la arwm bna alhna yy thre athwn hwythwn la ed bqdmytha arwm
For because you didn’t carry it at first, Yahweh our God broke out in anger against us, because we didn’t seek him according to the ordinance.”

ואזדמנו כהניא וליואי לאסקא ית ארונא דיי אלהא דישראל:
dyshral alha dyy arwna yth lasqa wlyway khnya wazdmnw
So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of Yahweh, the God of Israel.

ונטלו ליואי ית ארונא דיי היכמא די פקיד משה הי כפתגמא דיי על כתפיהון באסלון עלויהון:
elwyhwn baslwn kthpyhwn el dyy kpthgma hy mshh pqyd dy hykma dyy arwna yth lyway wnTlw
The children of the Levites bore God’s ark on their shoulders with its poles, as Moses commanded according to Yahweh’s word.

ואמר דוד לרברבני ליואי לאסקא ית אחוהון דמשבחיא במאני תשבחתא בנבלין וכנרין וצלצלין משמעין לארמא בקלא לחדוא:
lkhdwa bqla larma mshmeyn wtsltslyn wknryn bnblyn thshbkhtha bmany dmshbkhya akhwhwn yth lasqa lyway lrbrbny dwd wamr
David spoke to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brothers as singers with instruments of music, stringed instruments, harps, and cymbals, sounding aloud and lifting up their voices with joy.

ואוקימו ליואי ית הימן בר יואל ומן קריבוהי אסף בר ברכיהו ומן בני מררי קריביהון איתן בר קושיהו:
qwshyhw br aythn qrybyhwn mrry bny wmn brkyhw br asp qrybwhy wmn ywal br hymn yth lyway wawqymw
So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brothers, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brothers, Ethan the son of Kushaiah;

ועמהון אחוהון בתנינות זכריהו בר ויעזיאל ושמירמות ויחיאל ועני אליאב ובניהו ומעשיהו ומתתיהו ואליפלהו ומקניהו ועובד אדום ויעיאל תרעיא:
threya wyeyal adwm wewbd wmqnyhw walyplhw wmththyhw wmeshyhw wbnyhw alyab weny wykhyal wshmyrmwth wyezyal br zkryhw bthnynwth akhwhwn wemhwn
and with them their brothers of the second rank: Zechariah, Ben, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, and Jeiel, the doorkeepers.

ומשבחיא הימן אסף ואיתן בצלצלין דנחשא לאשמעא:
lashmea dnkhsha btsltslyn waythn asp hymn wmshbkhya
So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were given cymbals of bronze to sound aloud;
20
וזכריה ועזיאל ושמירמות ויחיאל ועני ואליאב ומעשיהו ובניהו בנבלים על בסימות קלפונין די שבחא:
shbkha dy qlpwnyn bsymwth el bnblym wbnyhw wmeshyhw walyab weny wykhyal wshmyrmwth wezyal wzkryh
and Zechariah, Aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with stringed instruments set to Alamoth;

ומתתיהו ואליפלהו ומקניהו ועובד אדום ויעיאל ועזזיהו בכנרין על תמניתא למשבחא:
lmshbkha thmnytha el bknryn wezzyhw wyeyal adwm wewbd wmqnyhw walyplhw wmththyhw
and Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harps tuned to the eight-stringed lyre, to lead.

וכנניהו רב ליואי במטול מתרברב על נטלי מטולא ארום סוכלתן הוא:
hwa swklthn arwm mTwla nTly el mthrbrb bmTwl lyway rb wknnyhw
Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was over the singing. He taught the singers, because he was skillful.

וברכיה ואלקנה תרעיא לפרסא דתמן ארונא:
arwna dthmn lprsa threya walqnh wbrkyh
Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark.
24
ושבניהו ויושפט ונתנאל ועמשי וזכריהו ובניהו ואליעזר כהניא מחצצרין בחצוצרתא קדם ארונא דיי ועובד אדום ויחיה תרעיא לפרסא דתמן ארונא:
arwna dthmn lprsa threya wykhyh adwm wewbd dyy arwna qdm bkhtswtsrtha mkhtstsryn khnya walyezr wbnyhw wzkryhw wemshy wnthnal wywshpT wshbnyhw
Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, blew the trumpets before God’s ark; and Obed-Edom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.
25
והוה דוד וסבי ישראל ורבני אלפין דאזלין לאסקא ית ארון קימא דיי מן בית עובד אדום בחדוא:
bkhdwa adwm ewbd byth mn dyy qyma arwn yth lasqa dazlyn alpyn wrbny yshral wsby dwd whwh
So David, the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands went to bring the ark of Yahweh’s covenant up out of the house of Obed-Edom with joy.

והוה כד סעיד יי ית ליואי נטלי ארון קימא דיי ודבחו שבעה תורין ושבעא אמרין:
amryn wshbea thwryn shbeh wdbkhw dyy qyma arwn nTly lyway yth yy seyd kd whwh
When God helped the Levites who bore the ark of Yahweh’s covenant, they sacrificed seven bulls and seven rams.

ודוד הוה מתעטף במנטר דבוץ וכל ליואי נטלין ית ארונא ומשבחיא וכנניה רב נטלי מטולא ועל דוד כרדוט דבוץ:
dbwts krdwT dwd wel mTwla nTly rb wknnyh wmshbkhya arwna yth nTlyn lyway wkl dbwts bmnTr mtheTp hwh wdwd
David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, as were all the Levites who bore the ark, the singers, and Chenaniah the choir master with the singers; and David had an ephod of linen on him.

וכל ישראל מסקין ית ארונא קימא דיי ביבבא ובקול שופרא ובחצוצרתא ובמצלצלין דמשמיעין בנבלין וכנרין:
wknryn bnblyn dmshmyeyn wbmtsltslyn wbkhtswtsrtha shwpra wbqwl bybba dyy qyma arwna yth msqyn yshral wkl
Thus all Israel brought the ark of Yahweh’s covenant up with shouting, with sound of the cornet, with trumpets, and with cymbals, sounding aloud with stringed instruments and harps.

והוה ארונא קימא דיי אתי עד קרתא דדוד ומיכל ברת שאול אודיקת מן חרכא וחמת ית מלכא מטפז ומשבח ובסרת עלוי בלבבה:
blbbh elwy wbsrth wmshbkh mTpz mlka yth wkhmth khrka mn awdyqth shawl brth wmykl ddwd qrtha ed athy dyy qyma arwna whwh
As the ark of Yahweh’s covenant came to David’s city, Michal the daughter of Saul looked out at the window, and saw king David dancing and playing; and she despised him in her heart.
